The area where I live

I live in Kalpitiya, a peninsula protruding from the sea near Puttalam and Mannaram, which is considered to be the semi-arid region of Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by a lagoon. Kalpitiya is a village with an ecologically important ecosystem despite its harsh nature at one time. With the onset of the northeast monsoon, its appearance turns green everywhere. A very dense mangrove system can be seen here.

Before a long time Kalpitiya was a rural area. But now it is developing. Everything has changed. Many buildings are constructed. The government has completely completed the road. There for many foreigners come here to visit our area. They love to feel our environment.

Many people of here are fishermen. But there are some famers. They grow on our land cabbage, red onion, beet root, chilly and radish etc. But we can’t grow paddy in our area. We can see coconut grown everywhere in our area

Some people think that Kalpitiya is a useless area. I would say that it is a very wrong opinion. However, Kalpitiya is a fortunate and beautiful village.
